My backyard frog journey started about 6 and a half years ago. I bought a dozen tadpoles from a pet store and threw them in my pond. I never saw them again and forgot all about them. Then about a year later I spotted a frog sitting on the edge of the pond. It was a complete surprise, but a pleasant one. The frog was enjoying the sun and hung around.
I was addicted! Every day I was out there looking for the frog.... happy if I saw it, disappointed if it wasn't out.
Ever since spotting that first frog, I've maintained a frog population in my backyard. Over the last few years my knowledge and interest in backyard frog keeping has only increased and it's been utterly fascinating and enjoyable. Here's a few pictures of my very first frog (unnamed). So beautiful - I didn't realise it at the time but looking back it appears to be a Southern Bell Frog, because it has quite raised bumps along its back.
